New Nine Inch Nails Music is imminent

It was revealed yesterday in an email to nin.com vinyl customers that new music from Nine Inch Nails “will be released before the first shows we do this summer”. The email also stated that the EP “Not The Actual Events”, released in December 2016, is the first of a trilogy of EPs to be released “6-8 months apart”. The email ends by saying there will be “more information on this shortly” and is signed simply “Trent”.

NIN Remix for Todd Rundgren's 'Deaf Ears'

Hi. I'm mostly posting this to make sure my credentials still work and if so, yay! NIN shared a remix for Todd Rundgren's "Deaf Ears" last week and, I have to say, it's pretty lit.

Yep.

Enjoy it below.

Before the Flood LP release in stores April 21st

Though we were treated to the digital release of the score to Before the Flood months ago, Lakeshore Records has recently announced that the LP we all pre-ordered will be in stores April 21st, 2017, the day before Earth Day.

Over on the Instagram accounts for Lakeshore Records, they've been sharing some behind the scenes shots, such as test pressings (click on the our locally hosted image to grab the higher resolution copy), as well as dropping hints about how production's been going, and when stuff's coming out. They do some cool stuff with other artists you'd probably dig if you like the scores Trent & Atticus put out, and have pressed some really creative looking vinyl - check 'em out.

"Not The Actual Events" Physical Component deliveries begin arriving today

After what we presume were unexpected production delays, the physical component for the digital release of Not The Actual Events began shipping late last week, and as of this morning, we've seen reports of people receiving theirs in the US and in the EU.

Some people received email notification of the shipment - with tracking numbers, no less! Other people did not. Check your spam folder, and/or log into store.nin.com to view your order status there.

I'm not going to post any spoilers yet, but please share your photos with us - upload them to an Imgur album and either tweet the URL to @ninhotline, or submit it via our form... the latter option, I'm not entirely sure is working as I type this.

Russell Mills Hesitation Marks art & sound installation, Q&A on Oct 28

Tomorrow night, Russell Mills is exhibiting the original artwork that he created for Hesitation Marks with an installation at the SONOS studios in Los Angeles. Russell will be there on opening night, and will be doing a live Q&A. An immersive self-generating sound installation created by Mills and collaborator Michael Fearon will provide the sonic atmosphere for the exhibition.

If you want to go, you should RSVP here. The event is 21+ and capacity is limited, and while it is the art of Hesitation Marks and Russell Mills will be there, this is a Russell Mills event and not a Nine Inch Nails event - do not go there expecting to see anyone from NIN.

If you do go, we'd love to hear from you!

NIN nominated for the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame

Over in Cleveland, Ohio, there's a museum of sorts loosely dedicated to rock n' roll. Given that Nine Inch Nails sprung out of Cleveland, it was only a matter of time before Trent Reznor's musical project got nominated. There are several factors that come into play, and one of them is an online poll. It's been a while since we've gone poll busting. We used to crash the phone systems at radio stations back in the day. I don't know what effect this poll even has on the final decision, but it might be fun to leave a mark anyway.

The Hesitation Marks tour cycle is over. Long live the tour video!

Just days before the anniversary of the release of Hesitation Marks, Nine Inch Nails wraps their US tour. If you still read this page, I don't need to tell you about the long-promised Tension DVD - in fact, my last update about it is still here on the front page. But minutes ago, a short video clip was posted to the Nine Inch Nails instagram account, along with this note: "We're hard at work on a video release that will encompass #NIN2013, #Tension2013, and #NIN2014. Stay tuned for details."

Oh, look. Instagram has an embed code. Here, I'll save you a click:

NIN Hotline Shirt, 2014 Edition: Bleedthrough

June sneaked past me this year, and I forgot to make a timely exasperated post about how weird it is that this site is now fifteen years old. It's older now that Nine Inch Nails was when I started the site. This train of thought manifested last night when I stayed up too late designing a crappy t-shirt again. This time around I tapped my Bleedthrough nostalgia.

Here's a shirt from an alternate timeline in which Nine Inch Nails released a sci-fi concept album in 2004 - if you were on nin.com back then, you might have an idea of what I'm talking about, and maybe even roll your eyes a little bit at the recursion that's implied there.

Available in men's & women's sizes, in multiple colors (including black-on-black) and even as a hoodie, there's no shortage of options to choose from this time around. The design (see below) is somewhat unconventional, but I feel that suits the nature of the admittedly obscure subject matter. If you like what you see, you've got a couple of weeks to throw a pre-order in the hat. If there are 30 pre-orders, the shirts get printed. If not, no worries. Maybe I'll try something more conventional next time! Mostly, it's that I already have so many NIN shirts with a NIN logo on the front. Have a great weekend!

NINremixes.com relaunch

In a previous decade, multitrack stems for "The Hand That Feeds" were released by Nine Inch Nails, so listeners could peel apart the layers, or have a go at remixing the song themselves. The Hotline pointed readers to Echoing the Sound and coordinated with other fans to facilitate a remix contest. Over five-hundred submissions later, a community arose, led by the team at ninremixes.com.

This site has undergone several iterations since then, and the latest is perhaps the most exciting. Not only is there a new layout, new ways to listen & download, but there's a new collaboration feature powered by Blend. As always, there are 5,000 free remixes available for download, direct downloads of multitracks for remixing, an upload area for remixes/unnofficial remixes/fan inspired songs/fan inspired poetry, and a new chat feature for discussing audio/daws/remixing. Absent from NINremixes this year though is former curator and active moderator Aaron House (Evil Ethics), who passed away earlier this year. I was sad to learn of his passing, but am glad to see that the site he dedicated so much time to is continuing onward.
