Who Owns The American Media?

Founded in 1877 by Stilson Hutchins, The Washington Post is the largest newspaper in Washington, D.C. and one of the leading daily newspapers in the United States, along with USA Today, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Unlike the Times and the Journal, the Washington Post does not print a national edition, aside from the "National Weekly Edition." The majority of its print readership is in the Washington, D.C. area, including Maryland and Northern Virginia.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post and affiliated publications in 2013 for $250 million. The papers are owned by Bezos personally, not by Amazon.com LLC.
