In 1992, Glover founded the Ithaca Hours, one of the first local currency systems. He said he founded it because there wasn't enough money in the local community.[1][2][3]
He founded of the Philadelphia Orchard Project,[4] the Citizen Planners of Los Angeles[5] and the Ithaca Health Alliance,[6][failed verification] He is author of several books on community economic development,[7] a former professor of urban studies at Temple University,[8] and Ecological Economics[9] at Philadelphia University.
He consults as Greenplanners and speaks on community economic development.[10][when?]
On the night of Monday, January 7th, 2019, Paul Glover had a stroke.[11][12] This was also stated in an online fund-raiser by close friends, with a Feb. 4,2019 follow-up note adding that "[Paul's]..memory seems to have taken a toll [and in both eyes] his vision is still out"
