Alipur is a census town under Jaynagar police station of Jaynagar I CD Block in Baruipur subdivision of South 24 Parganas district in the Indian State of West Bengal.


Alipur is located at 22°11′37″N 88°25′46″E / 22.1936°N 88.4295°E / 22.1936; 88.4295. It has an average elevation of 8 metres (26 ft).

Kalikapur Barasat, Raynagar, Uttarparanij, Baharu, Alipur and Uttar Durgapur form a cluster of census towns in Jaynagar I CD block. [1]


As per the 2011 Census of India, Alipur had a total population of 5,937, of which 2,938 (49%) were males and 2,999 (51%) were females. Population below 6 years was 839. The total number of literates in Alipur was 3,429 (67.26% of the population over 6 years).[2]


As per the District Census Handbook 2011, Alipur covered an area of 1.5196 km2. Among the physical aspects, there is a railway station at Baharu 3 km away. Among the civic amenities, it had 15 km roads with open drains, the protected water supply involved overhead tank. It had 360 domestic electric connections. Among the medical facilities it had was 1 dispensary/ health centre. Among the educational facilities It had were 3 primary schools, the nearest secondary school, senior secondary school at Baharu 3 km away, the nearest general degree college at Dakshin Barasat 6 km away. An important commodity it produced was zari work .[3]


Alipur is on State Highway 1.[4].

Baharu railway station is located nearby.[4]


Padmerhat Rural Hospital at with 30 beds at Dakshin Barasat is the major government medical facility in Jaynagar I CD block.[5]
