British unemployment fell to a six-year low of 1.88 million workers in December and the jobless rate dipped to 6.7 percent, the Office for National Statistics said yesterday.

The office said that special factors, including a new requirement that people receiving benefits prove they are looking for work, had inflated the larger-than-expected, seasonally adjusted fall of 45,100 in December, which followed a 95,400 drop in November.
