Christchurch and Highcliffe Libraries are now part of the new Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council
On 1 April 2019 the current nine Councils in Dorset area were replaced by two new organisations:
- Dorset Council
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council
Christchurch and Highcliffe libraries transferred from Dorset County Council and become part of BCP Council. Library users shouldn't notice any major changes to the library services from Day 1.
If you have a current library card, you can continue to use this card to borrow items and use the public access computers. There are no changes to loan periods or number of items that can be borrowed. There are no changes to fees and charges such as overdue charges or hire charges.
Library users at Christchurch and Highcliffe will continue to access a wide range of books and other items from the LibrariesWest catalogue. Items can still be reserved at these libraries or online free of charge.
If you use the online e-resources such as the e-magazines and have a former Dorset County Council library card, you will need to log-in via the Dorset link.
If your membership is with Christchurch or Highcliffe libraries and you use BorrowBox to checkout e audio books, once you have finshed listening to your current loans please either log out of the BorrowBox website or uninstall the app. Then re-install the app or log back on to the BorrowBox website and select BCP - Christchurch & Poole. Enter your library membership card number and PIN as usual.
You can use most of the public computers for up to 2 hours. Time can be extended subject to demand.
However, please note that although LibrariesWest members can return and renew items borrowed from any LibrariesWest library at any of the 12 libraries formerly in the Borough of Bournemouth (Boscombe, Bournemouth, Castlepoint, Charminster, Ensbury Park, Kinson Hub, Pokesdown & Southbourne, Springbourne, Tuckton, West Howe, Westbourne and Winton) you will need a Bournemouth membership card to borrow any items from these libraries.
