Theatre arts has played a vital role in the Gettysburg College experience for more than a century. Today, the production facilities are a fascinating blend of history and state-of-the-art technology.
Brua Hall is the college's theatre home . . . where throughout the academic year, the vibrant sounds of a play in its various stages of development can be heard as students and faculty engage in the many preparations required for the performance of a production.
Stage performances at Gettysburg College take place in a variety of unique venues - each with its own personality! But the action doesn't stop there, as the goings-on behind the scenes in Brua enable students to experience all that the Theatre Arts department has to offer.
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary during the 2009-2010 academic year, this 235-seat playhouse features a thrust stage (trapped) and an advanced sound and lighting system, including computer lighting memory control.
Stevens Laboratory Theatre
This 48-seat "black box" with flexible playing space can be converted for use as an arena/in the round, thrust profile, frontal, end stage, and more. Lab Theatre produces a dozen one-act plays each year, many of which are new and some of which are the work of campus playwrights staged as thesis productions (Senior Capstones) for their major.
This stunning, revitalized historic landmark and former vaudeville stage showcases early 20th-century opulence in a 21st-century performance venue. The Majestic hosts a variety of theatrical productions for the college and the surrounding community throughout the year.
