Construction is now underway on the 59th floor of the 62-story, 426-unit mixed-use tower under development at 242 West 53rd Street, located between Broadway and Eighth Avenue in Midtown’s Theater District. Progress on the structure can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the tower will eventually encompass 542,276 square feet and rise 675 feet to its rooftop, not including bulkhead structures.

There will be 426 rental apartments across the fourth through 59th floors. The units should average 1,024 square feet apiece. Residential amenities will be located on the second and third floors, in addition to an underground 90-car parking garage. Retail space will measure 16,514 square feet on the ground floor.

Algin Management is the developer and CetraRuddy Architecture is responsible for both the exterior and interiors of the building. Completion is expected in early 2018.
