TOOL Expands Summer Tour - May 29, 2009 The Pulse of Radio reports: TOOL has expanded its upcoming summer tour, adding six more shows to the itinerary, according to the band's web site. The trek now kicks off at the Mile High Music Festival in Commerce City, Colorado on July 18, with gigs slated to run through at least early August. The band's last scheduled appearance on this jaunt is at Chicago's Lollapalooza festival on the weekend of August 7.

TOOL drummer Danny Carey told The Pulse of Radio that unlike some groups, the members of the band still travel together on the road. "We pretty much all travel together," he said. "We kind of have to, you know, just for the logistics of everything going down. The schedule gets pretty tight, especially at the beginning of the tour, 'cause there are lots of interviews and, you know, soundchecks. Everything's pretty scheduled out. We're on a bus pretty much all the time in Europe. In America it varies. Sometimes we fly, sometimes we bus it."

The members of TOOL have recently hinted that work is beginning on a new album, but further details have yet to surface. The band's last effort, "10,000 Days", came out in 2006.

Singer Maynard James Keenan has spent much of the last year and a half working with his side project PUSCIFER, as well as his Arizona-based vineyard, Page Springs Cellars.

Keenan and winemaking partner Eric Glomski will continue touring Whole Foods outlets around the country next month for bottle signing sessions.

Confirmed TOOL tour dates (subject to change):

July 18 - Commerce City, CO - Mile High Music Festival
July 19 - Salt Lake City, UT - EnergySolutions Arena
July 21 - Phoenix, AZ - US Airways Center
July 22 - Rio Rancho, NM - Santa Ana Star Center
July 24 - San Antonio, TX - AT&T; Center
July 25 - Grand Prairie, TX - Nokia Theatre at Grand Prairie
July 27 - Alpharetta, GA - Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at Encore Park
July 29 - Charlotte, NC - Bojangles' Coliseum
July 30 - Fairfax, VA - Patriot Center
August 1 - Jersey City, NJ - All Points West Music & Arts Festival
August 7-9 - Chicago, IL - Lollapalooza

of a new album. Hope it happens, and it's better than the last one. I was pretty disappointed with 10,000 Days, even if it did have a few really good tunes on it.

I don't even listen to 10,000 Days album anymore. It tends to drag on and on and on. Doubt they'll ever release anything as good as AENIMA in the future.

Pittsburgh would be nice, but not at the Peterson Event Center. Mellon Arena would be better.

Fuck yes I saw them in 06 and it was a great show. Jersey City though? Just come to Philly, this is an oddball rundown.

And good call on the Dean DeLeo comparison. They're both underrated songwriters too.

They have got to get their albums out a LITTLE quicker than 5 years, it's really ridiculus. I know they want to have time to grow and gather new influences, but most bands release a new studio album every two years, so I don't see why these guys can't release one at least every 3 years, or at max, 4 years.

I mean, they've been around since what? 1991? And they only have 4 studio albums and 1 EP to boot. With that being said, they always deliver the goods. Even though 10,000 days wasn't amazing, it still had some great tunes, but I'm sure it will be an easier album to follow up to than Lateralus (Which IMO, is just as good as Aenima!)

I agree about the speed of material, but the flipside is that they put out their tunes when they want. I think as fans, we have this instant gratification thing and demand things NOW! I think that by taking their time and setting their own pace, it makes for a better product. Sometime the best things are the ones you wait for. I would like a LIVE cd from Tool, after the new material is produced. I only saw these guys once, but the United Center in Chicago is absolute SHIT for concerts. Lollopalooza is held in Grant Park, which is gigantic, and there isnt enough to interest me there. Obama gave his speech the night of the election there, in case you wanted a visual of the size.

The Mile High Music Festival is a total rip off. Tickets are running about 100 dollars for General admission. They do not have the line up to constitute the fee. It is not Coachella or Lollapalooza.
I've seen TOOL every time they have come to Denver but this is ridiculous. No thanks.

I hope they use the producer from Lateralus on their next album. The length of the songs were about the same in 10,000 days but they seemed to force the issue with making their songs at least 8 or 9 minutes long and i didnt get that feeling from Lateralus. I know whatever they come out, it'll be a new sound and a new style. Still, always gonna be my favorite band, by far. PS Maynard, ur from Ohio, so play a gig here, anywhere in Ohio.
