SLAYER On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!': 'Eyes Of The Insane' Performance Posted Online - Jan. 20, 2007 A video clip of SLAYER performing the song "Eyes of the Insane" on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Friday night (January 19) has been posted online at YouTube.com.

SLAYER played a total of six tracks during their first-ever network television appearance, but only "Eyes" was broadcast in its entirety; "Jihad" was shown under the credits — only the first minute or so was broadcast. After the program had ended, SLAYER played an additional four songs — "Mandatory Suicide", "War Ensemble", "Dead Skin Mask" and "Raining Blood" — for the live audience, which was over 1,000 strong. A full report on the evening from a fan that attended the performance can be found at this location.

As previously reported, Blender.com has posted a three-minute video of SLAYER paying a visit, on November 8, 2006, to the 52nd Services Squadron, located on the Spangdahlem U.S. Air Force Base in Germany. The band, whose latest release, "Christ Illusion", deals with the brutality of war and religions fanaticism, scrutinizing America's role in Iraq and Afghanistan, spent a couple of hours meeting and chatting with the soldiers, signing autographs, and viewing a fighter aircraft or two. This was the group's first-ever visit to a military base. Watch the clip at this location.

SLAYER's "Christ Illusion" album, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard chart, has sold around 150,000 copies in the United States since its Aug. 8 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Not a HUGE fan of this band, never have been able to get into them, but their last album was quite decent.

and that wasnt a bad performance either, they seem a bit more energetic than they did with the guy drumming on god hates us all..

and for a bunch of guys the same age as metallica, they are doing well.

I tell ya what.... Some people are SO CLOSE minded. If you don't like Slayer since Rain in Blood, then you are a jump on the band wagon fan, and you suck. I personally an glad they dont have 6-7 albums that sound like Rain in Blood, that would be quite boring. I enjoy all Alyers records because I am a true fan. A true fan knows that not every song will be a favorite, and they accept some change and stay a fan no matter what. Once the negative people who critique this band, can make a living doing what Slayer has done so strongly for 20+ years, I will respect their opinion. But we all know that won't happen so........... If ya don't have something nice to say, shut the hell up... :-)

THe only decent Slayer albums are Divine Intervention and Show no Mercy. Regin in Blood (if you're such a fan then get the album titles correct, its not "rain" in blood) Is such a boring and generic album. The rest of their catalogue is piss poor too. Sucks that your favorite band is so one dimensional.

Now why in the word would slayer, whose new album was not only the best album they have done sense seasons, but also their highest debuting album too date - call it quits? How stupid to call it quits when you are at the top of your game.

Just because 'you' don't like slayer does not mean they should call it quits. The sales figures, and debuting position of their new album proves they still have a lot of fans, new and old.

But still decent, in my opinion. I really like "Christ Illusion" for what it is. Comparing new releases from bands like Slayer to their past masterpieces is a bit irrational...wishful thinking, exactly. "Christ Illusion" is easily the best thing they have done since "Seasons In The Abyss." It has a nice mixture of older and newer Slayer elements. And Araya sounds maniacal.

Would've been better had they played "Fleshstorm" or "Jihad."

Should call it quits because this album sounds just like every other one of their other albums. Seasons sucked shit, RIB sucked shit, and now all of the new shit sucks just as bad because they cant get it through their thick fucking heads that music isnt meant to stay in one place. Then again, look at the music they make. Repetitive riffs, shitty vocals, and those musical abortions they call guitar solos, my god maybe they are too stupid to understand such a simple concept.
.............................................................................

Here is a simple concept Ken90120, you suck ass boy can not understand, because he can not understand. Slayer does not play traditional heavy metal, and does not think inside that box. They think outside of that conformist box.

Slayer's debut was in Dec 1983. Making them perfect for fans of

Metallica, Anthrax, Black Flag, Discharge, Charged-GBH, Exploited, Motorhead...and not for the "blender", and "rolling stone " type of " metal experts "

Slayer were formed in 1981 and it is 2007.

May Slayer be around for another 25 years +.

Instead of Slayer calling it quits, maybe frustrated posers and assholes like Ken90120/ you suck ass boy, the boy that sucks ass, should just cut their hair, sell their collections on eBay and just collect the " blender " styled rock and roll bands that are approved by acedemia, a so-called experts in the "music" field.

Music is a business like any other business.

Their is no right or wrong in music. Punk rock proved that 3 decades ago. Do metal thrashers really need to go to music college? when it is just rules of confromist society?

I say no way.

Certain rules and laws in music were meant to be broken.

Right and wrong "rules" always have the flaws, not because of the concept, because of the person making the rules.

Rules, rules fucking fools

Go to a metal show. A REAL metal show. Not at an arena or big venue, but at a club. Say Metallica sucks. Nobody will flinch. Say Slayer sucks, you've got a mob after you.

Slayer has always tried to keep their basic deathrash sound, but innovates upon it with each album. South of Heaven is a perfect example. Instead of churning out another speedy RIB clone, they slowed down their sound and added more mature song themes. (Only Slayer's early stuff has lame lyrics, but it all still kicks ass.) Slayer did what all the other bands were supposed to do. Megadeth made crapola after Countdown, and when Dave started making metal again, it had been so long that Megadeth was never able to pick up a big fanbase again. Metallica cut their hair and played out the alternative thing. Kreator went industrial.
No two Slayer albums sound exactly the same. Slayer, on the other hand, tried many different things but always stayed true to their sound. And now it's paying off. Christ Illusion(sounds like good ol' Slayer to me, solos and all) charted as Slayer's highest yet. And they are playing venues that only Nu-tallica could rival. Like the late Chuck Schuldiner said, "Support music, not rumours".

Saying "Slayer cant play in this key" Im saying they shouldnt play random notes combined with wanking on the gig bar and wah wah masturbation because it sounds like ass. There is nothing about their music that is out of the box in the least. They made a set of rules for themselves back in 1981 and they have not challenged themselves at all. They are lazy musicians following the same RULES over and over again."

Can't stay silent any longer...I have one thing to say..Your statement up there shows that you have no idea what in the hell you are talking about. If is so much sounded like ass, then they wouldn't be one of the most influential thrash metal bands of all times. That is just history, and the way it is. Your opinion of what they are doing won't change that. As far as challenging themselves over the years, well it's not a game to them. They write and play what they feel and want too. They aren't trying to keep up with the Jones's. They could give two shits about what you think, and that is honest! haha... So think what ya want, it won't matter to them either way...

You rule. You understand Slayer. I'm into punk rock more than metal and not only you got their influences correctly, you also understand the fact that they're pushing the envelope, and people criticizing them for not being "melodic" or "metal" enough are missing the point. Nice to see someone who knows what he's talking about!
