TOOL Guitarist Wins GRAMMY For 'Best Recording Package' - Feb. 11, 2007 TOOL guitarist Adam Jones received his first solo Grammy earlier tonight (February 11) for "Best Recording Package", thanks to his work as art director for the band's latest album, "10,000 Days". The spectacular packaging includes 3-D artwork and photos, along with a built-in set of stereoscopic lenses through which to view them. Jones told Launch how the concept came about. "We always try to think of something that's never been done before, you know, as far as album packaging, and I've been a fan of stereoscopic photography my whole life and belong to the Southern California Stereoscopic Club," he said. "And we thought if we could get this to work with our budget, you know, and put this out, it'd be really unique and reflecting, you know, a lot of the artwork that I appreciate from the '70s."

Jones has also directed most of TOOL's videos, including its recent clip for "Vicarious".

"10,000 Days" has sold more than 1.41 million copies since its release last May. The CD's latest single is "The Pot".

TOOL is currently completing a Japanese tour before launching another North American jaunt mid-March. I don't know how they couldn't win this category. Of course, I don't know how Tool didn't win best hard rock and Mastodon didn't win best metal (Christ Illusion over Blood Mountain? Unbelievable. Worse than Jethro Tull over Metallica. At leat Tull made a good album that year.)

well that's a stupid award...

attractive packaging is just something to get people to buy the product. you could just say that the selling of a million copies is the award.

o yeah...NOT a tool fan.

They are boring live. Sure, they play everything the way it should be played. They have really cool displays on tons of different monitors. But they just stand still. They are. Boring. And. they. did. i . mention.... they ....just stand....there....doing nothing.....

I have seen numerous local bands jam tool's ass off of the fucking stage. Oh yeah, and I saw MESHUGGAH jam their asses of the stage too...

Videos, Songs, Packaging, if this guy's thoughts went through my brain, it would pop like a blister from all the neuron activity. I can't wait to see this band in concert again. Theres nothing like Tool, they constantly amaze me, it's all brilliant. Come back to the east coast ASAP!

yes, there's nothing like a TOOL show. that's a joke itself.

another show with no movement and a grandios 30 minute break of guitar feed back while they all high-five eachother backstage saying "i can't belive they love us?!?".

best show was when meshuggah opened up and put them in place...

IS COOL, THE CONTENT RUNS SHORT REAL SHORT.
THIS CD HAS THREE OR FOUR GOOD CUTS AND THE REST SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE PERFECT CIRCLES LEFT OVERS.
THIS BAND IS GETTING BORING.
AND YES COME TO THINK OF IT THE LIVE SHOW IS MORE ART THAN MUSIC AS WELL

you lame ass tool haters can't even insult the band properly, meshuggah is not the best band that has opened for tool. they are not even in the same league as tool. actually they might be the worst, besides psychotica, of course. the melvins, tricky, tomahawk, isis, and fantomas are all better opening acts than the cookie monster led meshuggah. in fact it would be the tour of the year if tool got the melvins to open again. a senile animal is amazing!!!! oh and tool would have to finally change the set list too.
