Publication fees and associated charges

The majority of our publishing is performed at no charge to the author. Most journals charge fees for Open Access publication, and for colour reproduction of figures. Some journals employ page charges.

Consult the journal’s website to see whether any publication charges are applicable. If required, payments can be made online during or at the end of the production process, via our Author Services site: a unique link will be sent to you during the production process.

Contact our Customer Services team for enquiries relating to charges, online payment, and orders of reprints and print issues.

Waivers

If your country is listed on our developing countries list, you may receive a waiver of publication charges. Other reasons for applying for a waiver should be directed to the Editor of the journal, who may have the discretion to grant a waiver.

Print and Online Copies

Upon publication, the corresponding author is sent a free-access link to the online version of their paper. This link may be shared with co-authors and interested colleagues, and posted on the author’s personal or institutional webpage. The link is persistent and will continue to work when the article is moved from the journal’s ‘Advance Access’ page and included in an issue.

Copies of the print issue can be ordered online at any stage at a 50% author discount, and will be delivered once the issue has been printed.

Combined OA and Subscription deals

OUP has combined OA and subscription deals with several institutions or consortia. See this page for information about these deals and how authors affiliated to these institutions or consortia can make use of the OA funds available as part of these deals to pay publication fees.
